Welcome to the EHS Department
In the Department of Environmental Health Sciences, we are committed to furthering
research and education at the interface between human health and the environment.
The research in our department is extremely interdisciplinary and ranges
from studies on children's exposure to particulates from diesel buses,
to studies on anthropogenic impacts on intertidal habitats, to studies
on the mechanism of toxicity of metals and nanoparticles. We collaborate
extensively with the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Management, Public
Policy, Engineering and Applied Sciences, Law, and the College of Letters
and Sciences at UCLA as well as with the LA County Department of Public
Health, Regional Agencies, State Departments and Boards, and Federal Agencies,
industry, labor, and consulting groups. Our students are broadly trained
and have gone on to pursue a wide range of careers in both the public
and private sectors as researchers, educators, managers, policymakers
and/or public health practitioners. We hope that you will join us in our
pursuit of excellence because
a healthy environment is good for everyone!
