SPECIALIZED TRAINING PROGRAMS

A number of the graduate students in the Environmental Health Sciences Department received specialized training and support through specialized training programs that are housed in or affiliated with the Department.  These include:

The Southern California NIOSH Education and Research Center (ERC) is one of 16 multidisciplinary centers in the United States supported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health for education and research in the field of occupational health. http://www.ph.ucla.edu/erc/

Fogarty International Training Program. The UCLA-Mexico/Latin American Training Program is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health Fogarty International Center and supports a wide range of training opportunities in environmental and occupational health in Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, and Brazil. http://www.ph.ucla.edu/coeh/fogarty.html

UCLA Labor Occupational Safety and Health (LOSH) Program is a widely recognized center for workplace health and safety promotion which includes worker training, educational curricula development, technical assistance and occupational health policy research. http://www.losh.ucla.edu/

Lead Campus in Nanotoxicology is sponsored by the University of California Toxic Substance and Training Program and in the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI).  This is one of two programs in the U.S. dedicated to the study of the toxicology of nanomaterials.  The program involves faculty from the Schools of Engineering, Medicine, Public Health and Divisions of Life, Physical and Social Sciences of the College of Letters and Sciences. http://www.cnsi.ucla.edu/
