Job OpportunitiesThe UCLA School of Public HealthComputational Biology Faculty Position The UCLA School of Public Health seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position in the field of computational biology, broadly defined. The successful candidate should have a strong theoretical background with an interest in applications to human diseases or threats to public health. UCLA offers many opportunities for collaboration in methodologically challenging areas, including genome-wide association studies of complex diseases and phenotypes, studies to assess gene-gene and gene-environment interactions, fine mapping, gene expression studies, and system biology. Located in West Los Angeles, UCLA's School of Public Health offers unique opportunities for research with multi-ethnic populations, as well as with the broader campus community. Opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant and encouraged, both within and outside the health sciences. Candidates must have an earned doctorate with experience and scholarship in computational biology. Duties include both teaching and maintaining a high caliber research program. Preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary research and teaching, a strong record of publications and extramural funding, and demonstrated leadership qualities. The Search Committee will consider applications beginning December 1, 2007, until the position is filled. Appointment may be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. Faculty appointment level and salary will be commensurate with candidate's experience and qualifications. This is a school-wide search; the department(s) the candidate will join (Biostatistics, Community Health Sciences, Environmental Health Sciences, Health Services, and/or Epidemiology) will be determined once a finalist is selected.
