New Employee Insurance Enrollment
(Note: All links below open a new browser window.)
Enrolling in benefits is easy. If you are newly eligible for health and
insurance benefits, there are no paper forms to submit. Instead, you enroll
by means of your home or office computer.
When to Enroll
You must enroll during your period
of initial eligibility—your PIE. Your PIE starts on the day
your eligible employment begins and it ends 31 days later at midnight.
If you do not enroll during your PIE, you will automatically be enrolled
with single-party coverage in Core Medical, and, if you are a Career employee,
you will automatically be enrolled in single-party coverage in Delta Dental
and Vision Service Plan.
Before You Enroll
Get an Overview! For an audio/visual overview of UC's benefits, watch
this online presentation. You can watch the presentation straight through
or use the navigation buttons on the left of the screen to select a specific
chapter or to move quickly through the chapter you're in.
You'll need speakers and the Flash software. If you don't have Flash,
you can download
it for free.
Read Your
Group Insurance Plans for current plan information and rules. Be sure
to read "Participation Terms and Conditions." If you have questions,
contact Elaine Brooks, School of Public Health, Staff Personnel Office
at (310) 206-1709 or Susan Leonard at 794-5428.
Read the Medical
Plan Comparison and use the Medical
Plan Chooser to help you choose a medical plan. The Chooser enables
you to compare the UC-sponsored medical plans on a variety of categories
and then rank plans by what matters to you.
Choose a Primary Care Physician or a Primary Medical Group Number (not
needed for High Option, Blue Cross PPO, Kaiser, or Core). Find
a Doctor provides links to online directories for most plans.
Gather your own Social Security Number and the Social Security Numbers
of each of your family members.
Now that you have done the above steps you are ready to LOGON.
