Charitable Contributions In 2004, WellPoint
Foundation and its affiliated foundations made grants totaling more
than $24 million through the Foundation’s initiatives, partnerships
with non-profits and matching gift program for WellPoint
associates.
Application
Process Applications for WellPoint
Foundation grants are accepted by invitation only. The Foundation
encourages potential applicants to also consider funding options
available through the related foundations.
Funding
Criteria Within the guidelines of its mission,
WellPoint Foundation considers charitable support to organizations
primarily classified by the Internal Revenue Service as tax exempt
under Section 501(c)(3) that directly impact one or more of the
Foundation’s key objectives:

Improve accessibility and affordability of health care in the
communities WellPoint serves •
Improve health status and quality of care for WellPoint’s
members and the public •
Support the development of health-related public
policy • Assist health care
institutions, physicians and other health care clinicians to
establish best •
practices in medicine and/or business management
Funding
Restrictions WellPoint Foundation does not
consider grants that:

Provide a tangible benefit to WellPoint, Inc. or WellPoint
associates • Support
political campaigns or lobbying activities • Support capital campaigns for
building projects or non-medical equipment

Grant To be considered for a grant, please fill
out a formal Letter of Inquiry—attached here in both a pdf
and Microsoft
Word document format—and return by mail or email as requested on
the form. If your organization meets the Foundation’s funding
guidelines and priority focus you may be invited to apply for a
grant from the WellPoint Foundation. We will notify you by email and
