The Los Angeles Teen Study - An Introduction

This site provides data for replicating and extending the analyses presented in this text:

Theory-Based Data Analysis for the Social Sciences
by Carol S. Aneshensel
(2002, Pine Forge, Thousand Oaks, CA)

The following documentation gives information about the variables in the "LATEEN" dataset in MS Word format. Analyses were conducted using the survey procedures in STATA, which adjust for the complex sample design and use weights to adjust for differences in sampling probabilities (as explained in the text). Information about variable names, labels, value labels, and distributions are presented in these files in various formats.

CODEBOOK  - The most detailed information about the variables.
VARIABLE SUMMARY  - A concise reference to the variable set.
VALUE LABELS   - Labels for the values of categorical variables with distributions.
ANALYSIS JOURNAL DOCUMENTATION  - Output from STATA for the examples in the text.

The following data files are input data files "LATEEN" for use in STATA, SAS, or SPSS (Windows versions).
