Included below are 22 cases of anthrax that comprise the outbreak, 18 confirmed by CDC and 4 deemed suspicious. Case 10 was previously classified as suspicious by CDC but then removed on December 7, 2001 due to lack of confirmatory testing. Case "add" (for addenda -- not part of the outbreak) arose many months later in a laboratory accident in Texas and is counted as case 23 by CDC but not by Professor Frerichs, feeling it was separate from the outbreak. The list contains information provided by CDC in MMWR, clinical authors and the news media. Sole responsibility for epidemiologic judgment, site structure and contents lies with Professor R.R. Frerichs. Click on case number for additional details. |
