EPI 418, Spring Quater 2008 (listed jointly EPI and CHS) The course is both practical and applied, teaching how to do rapid community-based surveys for use in either developing countries or regions of the United States where information and survey funds are scarce. The course, taught by Professor Ralph R. Frerichs (click at left), is focuses on practical components of planning, conducting, analyzing and reporting findings of rapid surveys. WEB ACCESS CODE All of the course material will be distributed via the web. A web-access code will be given to enrolled students via email prior to the start of class. COURSE MATERIAL (requires password for some material) Included here are the course outline, assigned readings, and data sets for the Software Training Manual, individual problem and group problem. Also included are black and white copies of the slides (6 per page), to be distributed before the lecture. STATA SOFTWARE For advanced analyses of two-stage cluster survey data, you will need special software that does not assume each subject is selected independently. UCLA students are recommended to obtain the perpetual (i.e., life-long) Intercooled Stata 9 software from Stata Corporation. The specific steps are:
