Research Interests
The UCLA-DRC Research Program (UDRP) was established in 2004 in Kinshasa (the capital of DRC) and clinical research field sites in Central DRC to support epidemiological studies of infectious disease. UDRP is well equipped with clinical, laboratory and office space with the necessary equipment and human resources to collect, analyze and store data and biological samples obtained in the proposed study. UDRP is staffed by of senior Congolese field, laboratory and administrative staff who have extensive experience in the design and implementation of serosurveys and other epidemiological studies of infectious disease throughout DRC.
The DRC Ministry of Health has provided the UDRP with laboratory space at the Institut National de Recherche Biomedicale (INRB), which is the DRCs national reference laboratory. Our laboratory is equipped with the appropriate equipment for specimen processing, testing and repository including: 2 centrifuges, 1 -20 C stand up freezer, 1 DS2 automated multiplex ELISA machine, 2 -20 C portable freezers for field collection, 1 refrigerator, 1 shaker and 3 computers for data collection.
