WEEK 1

Lab: Introduction to Internet, including L.A. County Public Health's Web Page, Download and installing software from the Web. Subscribe to classes Listserv, set-up sample Web Page on your own Web site using Additional Concepts: hypertext-links, Mail Servers, domain names, IP addresses

WEEK 2

Lab:  Start developing Web site, work directly in HTML source code and work with Front Page editor.   Head and Body elements. Formatting text with tags, tables. Establishing hypertext links, ordered and unordered lists, applying background colors and patterns, setting text fonts, colors and styles, define relative and absolute anchors. Making your pages graphical with embedded images. Making images 'clickable', showing text on mouse-over image.
Additional Concepts: Configuring browsers.  Introduction to History of Internet and HTML.  The Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP), TCP/IP. Building a Web page with HTML, the HTML Language, Adding graphic elements.

WEEK 3

Lab: Formating with Tables. Using Frames.  Forms: Capturing user input with HTML forms.  Form elements, text & check boxes, radio buttons, drop-down menus, submit, reset. File Compression.  Upload and Link PDF and ZIP files to sample Web site. 
Additional Concepts:  Forms on the Web,  Overview Using CGI (ASP, CF, etc.) to process form input.  Programming on the sever, Interfacing to a database Management System. 

WEEK 4

Lab:  Demonstrate and Work on any Tags not clear during the chapter-by-chapter review of 1-11 Setup Email (filters, sigantures, group email, etc.) Cookies, NewsGroups, Threading; Chats;  ICQ 
Additional Concepts: Creating Dynamic Web Pages.  Adding special effects,  Shockwave, VRML.

WEEK 5

Lab: Field Structures, Design/Create/Edit database Tables, Printing
Additional Concepts:  Database Basics

WEEK 6

Lab: Designing Tables, Relational databases, Create/Design Forms
Additional Concepts:  Advanced Database Concepts, Publishing Documents on Web

WEEK 7

Lab: Using Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop,  Find Data, Queries
Additional Concepts: Electronic Document Processing, Image Editing  

WEEK 8

Lab:  Advanced Queries, Creating Reports 
Additional Concepts: Analysis, Relational Data Bases

WEEK 9

Lab: Database Web enabled Applications Cold Fusion, ASP 
Additional Concepts: Web Data bases, ActiveX,  and GIS - Mapping

WEEK 10

Lab: Mapping
Additional Concepts: Data Warehousing
