Applicants to the program must be recommended by the UCLA/AITRP coordinator in their home country, must complete the Graduate Record Examination, must be fluent in written and spoken English and must submit an application to the Department of Epidemiology. An application form can be downloaded from this website. The application fee for applicants recommended by the in-country coordinator will be paid by the UCLA/AITRP. Applicants must sign a statement guaranteeing that they will return to their home country or pay back the UCLA/AITRP for the cost of their program. Typically this is $120,000 for the M.S. degree and $200,000 for the Ph.D. degree. Applicants are usually interviewed by Professor Detels and the AITRP coordinator in their home country.
