BRIEF HISTORY DURING THE SNOW ERA (1813-58)

This small square with two facing crescents probably takes its name from the Bolton family who owned adjacent land in the 1850-60s when the area was developed.  St. Mary's, West Brompton was set in the central garden and consecrated in October 1850.  In later years, the Boltons was home to Beatrix Potter (1866-1943), creator of Peter Rabbit.
