When Cross published his map in early 1850, the Lambeth Waterworks was still at the base of the Hungerford suspension bridge, across the River Thames from Hungerford Market. Click here to see a watercolor painted in 1850, looking south from the Waterloo Bridge, standing by "oo" in "Waterloo." The large building just to the North of the smaller buildings of the Lambeth Water Works is the Lion Brewery. |
