The 1845 panorama shows the Lambeth Waterworks (in red) next to and behind the Lion Brewery (with lion on top), both on the eastern side of the River Thames.  At the time, the Lamberth Waterworks used several pumping engines to draw water from the center of the River Thames.  The water was then sent through iron pipes to reservoirs at Brixton Hill and Streatham Hill. The front building (bottom right) of the Lambeth Waterworks was near Belvedere Road, while the elongated rear building extended to the River Thames.  Also shown on the left is the Hungerford Suspension Bridge, just completed in 1845, and on the right the Waterloo Bridge.
