BRIEF HISTORY DURING THE SNOW ERA (1813-58)

The square was originally built in 1843. It was named after the Duke of Sussex, the sixth son of King George the III, who died in that year.  Sussex Square is perhaps most famous for a twentieth century occupant, Sir Winston Churchill, who live at No. 2 in 1920-4.
