Cholera in Democratic Republic of Congo (update)

As of 14 March the Ministry of Health, Democratic Republic of Congo has reported 6601 cases of cholera and 502 deaths in 24 of the 40 health zones in Katanga province, since the outbreak began in November 2001.

The interagency committee (Ministry of Health, WHO and Médecins sans frontières - Belgium, France, Spain) which was established to control the outbreak is reinforcing surveillance and social mobilization activities.
