Cholera deaths in Malawi

Reports from Malawi say a cholera outbreak has killed nearly 30 people since the onset of rains in October.

A health official Habib Somanje was quoted by the French news agency, AFP, as saying that only the densely populated southern and central regions had so far been affected by the outbreak.

He said there were 1,400 recorded cases of cholera in the south only.

Nineteen people died of cholera during the rainy season last year.
