William Hargrove in
1818 published a map of Micklegate Ward, the area in York where John
Snow was born and spent his early years. Two landmarks along the River
Ouse are shown in orange (The Guild Hall) and yellow (Ouse Bridge). The
All Saints North Street church is shown in green (#1) and Snow
birth-home is presented in red (#2). In 1823 when John Snow was
10, his family moved to Wellington Row (#3). Two years later in
1825, the family again moved, but this time to Queen Street (#4) where
Snow's father accumulated land and rental properties. Dodsworth
School, where John Snow likely received his early education education
from age 6 through 14 (i.e., 1819-1827) was in Bishop Hill (#5).
