Communities' Needs for Promoting Occupational Health and Productivity
Occupational health is central to the needs of many different communities. This conference will critically examine the needs and opportunities for the different communities (populations) with occupational health needs. Unique elements and common goals will be defined.
Occupational health must meet the needs of many “communities” that may have unique needs and goals. These communities include:
Primary care and Occupational Healthcare service providers
Chronic disease management in work settings
Recent immigrant workers
Community-based organizations
Small employers /Corporate employers
Governmental employers
Organized labor
Worker's Compensation
Occupational health outside the US
Speakers and discussants from these “communities” will consider protecting occupational health and promoting productivity from their unique perspective. Each will address:
Unique needs of the community
What programs work well? What programs are failing?
Unmet needs for preventing occupational illness and injury
Unmet needs for encouraging productivity
Most important new programs for workplace health protection and for productivity enhancement
