Overview:

Industrial hygiene is the science devoted to anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling environmental factors that arise from the workplace and pose risks to workers and the community.

This three day introductory/ basic training course is designed for those who are brand new to the ideas, principles, and field of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) as well as to those who are a bit more experienced and are looking for a clearer understanding of the basic principles of Industrial Hygiene and how to apply them in their workplace and surrounding environment.

Engaging classroom lecture and presentations are combined with hands-on training as well as with interactive activities to ensure that students understand how basic air contaminants, noise, ventilation, heat and other surveys are planned and measurements conducted. Students will walk away with a basic understanding on how to conduct simple and general measurements, or better understand how to specify requirements for obtaining contractual industrial hygiene services.

Participants will develop an understanding of industrial hygiene principles and practices by examining four key processes-anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control.
