My field studies was carried out at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Greater Los Angeles (GLA) Healthcare System. The majority of my time was spent at the Sepulveda campus, Patient Education Resource Center (PERC) during the summer of 2004 (June 1st-September 3rd). My preceptor and supervisor was Paul West. He is the Director of PERC and the Patient Education Coordinator for the GLA network. I served as a PERC Intern and worked on routine tasks for the Sepulveda PERC and special projects. The two special projects that I was overseeing were the planning of an arthritis workshop at the Sepulveda VA in collaboration with community organizations and setting-up another PERC at the Los Angeles (LA) Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) campus.
