![]() Will my gift make a difference? What are some of the school's greatest opportunities and challenges? I have a gift amount in mind. How might my gift be used? Will my gift to the UCLA School of Public Health enjoy tax benefits? How can I pay for my gift to support the UCLA School of Public Health? Can I direct how my gift will be used? How can I update my address or other information? UCLA recently completed a highly successful Three Billion Dollar Campaign. Is my gift really needed? Will my gift make a difference? Absolutely. Private support, at all levels, is more important than ever at the UCLA School of Public Health. It is widely believed that tax dollars provide full funding for California's public universities. In reality, state funds supply only a small fraction of UCLA's operating budget. Student fees and other revenues cannot keep pace with the ever-escalating costs associated with a first-rate education. A sustainable source of private funds is critical to meet the rapidly expanding demands for public health research, training, and public service. Your gift will not only ensure the School's continued excellence, but will also help make our community, our nation and our world a safer, healthier and better place. What are some of the School of Public Health's greatest opportunities and challenges? The field of public health faces challenges unimagined even a few short decades ago, and the School's faculty is hard at work developing new tools and resources to successfully navigate these new frontiers. The UCLA School of Public Health is strategically fostering interdisciplinary research to ensure its leadership in emerging disciplines important to the public's health such as addressing threats of bioterrorism, emerging infectious diseases, and natural disasters; utilizing stem cell research and genomics to map future health risks; and tackling the barriers that result in health disparities. I have a gift amount in mind. How might my gift be used? The School's friendly and expert development professionals can assist you in finding the appropriate vehicle for your philanthropy. Links below will direct you to the multiple ways you can make a gift and to staff who can guide you to the best match between your passions and the School's greatest needs or opportunities. Whether you choose to support the School's Annual Fund, which gives the School's leadership the discretion to respond to critical needs or exceptional opportunities as they arise each year, or to direct your gift to support specific programs and projects, your gift will have a positive and lasting impact on the School and on the future of our health. Will my gift to the UCLA School of Public Health enjoy tax benefits? The School accepts private gifts through The UCLA Foundation, a California non-profit, public-benefit corporation organized for the purpose of encouraging voluntary private gifts, trusts and bequests for the benefit of the UCLA campus. Every gift directed through the Foundation to the School is fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. In addition to expressions of gratitude, the University mails you an official receipt for your tax records. Planned gifts and bequests may offer other forms of tax benefit as well. How can I pay for my gift to support the UCLA School of Public Health? Whether by selecting Make a Gift Online to make an immediate credit card gift, or by writing a check, transferring securities, deeding property, or making provisions for the School in your will, you can explore myriad ways to support the School by reading Ways to Invest. For more complicated gift strategies or multiple-year pledges, school and UCLA development professionals are ready to assist donors in choosing the right gift structure and method to maximize the benefits of giving while meeting their financial, tax and estate planning goals. Can I direct how my gift will be used? Donors may direct their gifts to any number of specific or discretionary funds of the School. Some donors prefer to provide discretionary monies to the School's leadership; others favor supporting specific academic departments, research programs, student financial aid, or even building construction or improvement projects. Development staff are pleased to work with donors to identify the right fit for their philanthropy. For additional questions on how your gift might be directed, please contact us.
