While our faculty and students are the heart of what the School does to improve the public's health,
increasingly, modern teaching and research relies on greater amounts of information processing and communications
technologies. Given that our research links to all corners of the globe, our need to communicate rapidly with
public health professionals worldwide becomes more critical.
University of California budget allocations have not kept up with the increasingly important but costly investments
in information technology required by a world-class public health school. Smart investments are required not only
to immediately improve the human and physical technology infrastructure of the School, but also to guarantee a
secure source of funds over the years to continue to upgrade and maintain this important resource for our faculty
and students.
The School seeks philanthropic support to significantly enhance our ability to attract and retain top-notch
communications and technology staff, purchase and upgrade needed information technology hard- and software; and
equip our classrooms with state-of-the-art teaching technologies, among other IT needs.
