How would you like to spend the summer working with a bright, committed, energetic graduate student from the UCLA School of Public Health?
What is the summer internship? The summer internship represents the cornerstone of our two-year Master's of Public Health (MPH) degree. During the summer, students work with an organization full-time for ten weeks on a project or problem that will allow them to apply the skills gained during their academic training. During the following fall quarter, students will complete consulting reports that document their experience and highlight the key findings for the organization. The report is prepared with guidance from the preceptor and UCLA faculty and presented to the organization. Since this is a learning experience, the preceptor plays a vital role in ensuring the success for the internship for the organization, the student, and the department. We are inviting you to serve as preceptor this summer!
Students at the UCLA School of Public Health are well positioned to make a meaningful contribution to your organization. During their first year, these students will have taken a broad range of courses to develop their management and policy analysis skills. All students willhave completed a two-quarter course examining the American health care system. In addition, students will have completed courses in accounting, financial management, biostatistics, economics, strategic planning, quality improvement, evaluation, and policy analysis. The average entering GPA is 3.3 and they have approximately 2 full-time years of working experience. For a more detailed listing of the course work, please view the curriculum matrix. How can my organization participate? To secure your place in the summer internship program, please complete and return the Organizational Registration Form by the first week of March. Each year there are more internship opportunities available than MPH students. In order to attract the top applicants, it is important to submit your registration form early. We will circulate your information to all students as soon as we receive it. If you have any quetsions or need more information about the program, please contact Dr. Diana Hilberman, at (310) 206-6322.
