Charles E. Lewis is Professor of Health Services, Medicine, and Nursing in the School of Public Health. He is also Director of the UCLA Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. Dr. Lewis teaches courses in The Evolution of Health Professions in the 20th Century, and The Social and Biological Foundations of Prevention. Dr. Lewis received his Medical degree from Harvard and a Masters and Doctor of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati. His interest is in physicians’ continuing education, specifically related to AIDS, health education and health services research. Dr. Lewis received the Glaser Award from the Society of General Internal Medicine in 1988, and a Mastership from the American College of Physicians in 1995. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Science, a consultant to Walt Disney, and Director of the UCLA Residency on Preventive Medicine.
