Mark S. Litwin is Professor of Health Services and Urology. He teaches courses in health care delivery systems, medical outcomes research, quality of life assessment, and clinical urology. Dr. Litwin received his MD from Emory University, his MPH from UCLA and trained in urological surgery at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital. He spent two years as a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at UCLA and RAND. Dr. Litwin's research interests include medical outcomes assessment, health-related quality of life, urologic oncology, cost-efficacy in urological care, physician payment systems, and patient preferences. He is presently working on demonstrating differences in the cost-efficiency of specialists versus generalists, creating quality of care report cards for California hospitals, and documenting the quality of men's lives after treatment for early and late stage prostate cancer.
