With an interest in the academic disciplines of science and business, Dr. McLaughlin earned his Masters of Science degree in Limnology from the University of California at Davis and combined it with a Masters of Business Administration degree and doctoral degree in business at the Claremont Graduate School. His specific academic interests are organizational theory coupled with corporate accounting and financial management. Dr McLaughlin is currently a tenured professor in the Finance, Real Estate, and Law Department and is the Director of Graduate Business Programs (offering the following degrees: MBA, MSBA in Information Systems Auditing, and MSBA in Entrepreneurship) at the College of Business Administration at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Dr. McLaughlin also holds academic appointments at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in the School of Public Health with the Executive MPH degree program.

Graduate education in health care accounting and financial management is joined with the experience in managing proprietary health care facilities throughout Southern California. Dr. McLaughlin's twenty-plus years in health care provide first-hand retrospective knowledge in the evolution of today's national health care system.

Educational pedagogy is rapidly transforming from the historical didactic classroom environment to that of interactive and space/time independent electronic media. Dr. McLaughlin's innovative work in video and web-based instruction puts him in the forefront of distance learning. His experiences in Modular Distance Learning have yielded numerous publications and presentation opportunities.

Dr. Eric McLaughlin's consulting projects span the private and not-for-profit sectors of health care management. He has consulted and provided financial management training for major corporations throughout the United States and the world. Sought after for his dynamic presentation style and his ability to translate difficult concepts into understandable terms, he has worked with professionals ranging from health care managers to physicians to CEO's of major corporations; and has traveled throughout the world to Canada, Finland, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam.
