Nadereh
Pourat (PhD, UCLA) is an associate professor of health services
at the UCLA School of Public Health. She is also a senior research
scientist at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.
Dr. Pourat’s
primary research interest is in assessing the disparities in
access to care of underserved population. Within this context,
she has examined access issues among Asian Americans, immigrants,
the low-income, and the elderly as well as access to services
such as breast and cervical cancer screening and oral health
care among others.
Dr. Pourat has extensive experience in design and implementation
of surveys of professionals and is on the adult technical advisory
committee for the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS).
She is currently the co-principal investigator for the DWC/UCLA
Medical Access Study and is responsible for the sampling strategy,
survey design, and data collection on surveys of workers’
comp providers, injured workers, and payers. She is also a member
of the California Health Benefits Review Program (CHBRP) faculty
taskforce, which evaluates the cost, medical effectiveness and
public health impact of benefit mandates proposed by the California
legislature.
