Mr. Schiff
is an Associate Professor at the UCLA School of Public Health
and a physician healthcare attorney. He teaches the Legal Environment
of Health Services Management course for the MPH for Health
Professionals Program. Mr. Schiff is admitted to the practice
of law in both California (1977) and the District of Columbia
(1979).
Mr. Schiff
graduated from Lewis & Clark College in June of 1974 with
a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He then attended
Southwestern University and in June of 1977 graduated with a
Juris Doctorate degree. He received his Masters of Public Health
in Health Services and Hospital Administration in December 1978
at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Mr. Schiff
worked at the White House in 1978 for the Special Assistant
to the President for Health. In 1979, he opened his own law
office and in 1981 joined the Century City firm of Diller &
Freedman. Mr. Schiff founded Schiff and Bernstein, A Professional
Corporation in February 1984. The firm specializes in healthcare
law and represents physicians, medical groups, IPAs and medical
staffs.
Mr. Schiff
is a past president of the California Society for Healthcare
Attorneys (1990-91) and a co-founder (1979) and chair (1980)
of the Healthcare Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar
Association. Mr. Schiff lectured annually on health law issues
for UCLA Extension from 1982 to 1999. In January, 1997, Mr.
Schiff was appointed Associate Adjunct Professor, Department
of Health Services, School of Public Health, where he teaches
health law.
