Elizabeth (Becky) Yano, PhD, MSPH is an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Health Services and Senior Social Scientist of the VA Center for the Study of Healthcare Provider Behavior at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. She is also the Co-Director of the VA Associated Health Postdoctoral Fellowship Program and serves as a Faculty Mentor in the VA Ambulatory Care and Women’s Health Fellowship Programs. She principally teaches Evaluation of Health Services in the MPH for Health Professionals Program, as well as selected lectures and seminars throughout the Department and beyond. Trained as an epidemiologist (PhD, Epidemiology, UCLA School of Public Health) and health policy analyst (former Institute of Medicine Pew Health Policy Fellow at UCLA and RAND), Dr. Yano has over 20 years of health services research experience, most recently leading studies assessing the influence of practice characteristics on facility performance and health outcomes, as well as evaluations of alternate delivery models in primary care, women’s health and HIV/AIDS and randomized trials of evidence-based quality improvement approaches to guideline implementation for smoking cessation and the collaborative care model for depression screening and management.
