Curriculum

Courses are 4 units each. Students enrolled in the program take 15 graduate courses (60 units) which includes completing a project/report (under faculty supervision) on a topic of special interest to them.

Required Courses fall in three categories:

School of Public Health Core Courses (16 units)

  • Introduction to Biostatistics
  • Principles of Epidemiology
  • Introduction to Environmental Health Sciences
  • Health Services Organization

Departmental Core Courses (16 units)

  • Foundations of Community Health Sciences
  • Program Planning, Research and Evaluation in Community Health Sciences (2 course sequence)
  • Master's Project Research (aka. Field Studies in Public Health)

MPH/HP Program Courses (28 units)

  • Advanced Evaluation & Research
  • Capstone Seminar: Current Problems in Health Promotion & Education
  • Communication in Health Promotion and Education
  • The Politics of Health Policy
  • Communications and Media Development
  • Master's Project (aka Practicum: Community Health Sciences)
  • Leadership Development and Empowerment/Community Organization for Health
