I am a student in the UCLA School of Public Health. How can I join the Public Health Student Association?Answer:
All currently enrolled students in the UCLA School of Public Health are automatically members of the PHSA. You do not have to do anything to join; you are already a member. Welcome!

Are there dues for the PHSA?Answer:
No, there are no dues for members of the PHSA. A portion of student fees goes to support the activities of the PHSA.
Question:
My friend is interested in being a leader in the PHSA, but is not a student at UCLA'S School of Public Health. Can my friend run for election and be a member?Answer:
No, only currently registered and enrolled students in the School of Public Health are permitted to participate in the PHSA.
If you are a registered graduate student in the UCLA School of Public Health, you may apply to run for election as a Departmental Representative, by downloading the application and returning it as indicated by the deadlines. Online elections will be held in which only registered School of Public Health graduate students may vote; the eligible voters will be notified of the voting mechanism in Fall 2009, date to be announced.
In addition, in the Spring Quarter, elections will be held for the new Executive Board of PHSA. Details will be announced along with applications at that time.

When and where does the PHSA meet?Answer:
There are two large membership meetings per quarter, known as "General Body Meetings," required by the Constitution of the PHSA. In addition, there are many special events, social gatherings, community outreach, legislative, fundraising and other participatory activities, plus the End of Year Banquet held every spring. The Fall 2009 Quarter's first PHSA General Body Meeting was Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 12:00 Noon in the Dean's Conference Room, near the Dean's Office, CHS (Center for Health Sciences building).
The second meeting of the Fall 2009 Quarter will be November 12, 2009, also at 12:00 Noon, in the Dean's Conference Room again, which will also be announced by email to all School of Public Health graduate students.

The many benefits include oppportunities for developing leadership and teamwork skills, networking, gaining expertise in subject areas of the eight active committees, and enjoying the spirit of the cadre of professional public health students and future professionals in our chosen field.
