President's Message: Tarah Griep and Andrew Tsiu, 2010-2011
The Co-Presidents of the UCLA Public Health Student Association (PHSA) for 2010-2011 are Tarah Griep and Andrew Tsiu. This is their welcoming message to all students of the School of Public Health and their vision for the future of PHSA's growth and re-emergence as a leadership organization.
PHSA Co-Presidents' MessageDear Incoming Students, Welcome! We, Tarah Griep and Andrew Tsiu, are very excited to welcome you to the UCLA School of Public Health. We are the co-presidents for the Public Health Student Association (PHSA) for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year. In the coming year, we hope that through our efforts all public health students can have a positive and rewarding experience while pursuing their education at UCLA. The Public Health Student Association acts as a liaison between student needs and concerns and faculty and staff. Through the utilization of departmental representatives, student committees, as well as the elected executive board, PHSA seeks to improve the professional and academic experience of public health students. In the upcoming year, PHSA helps host events such as Public Health Week, community service events, panel discussions, lunch time lectures, and the end of the year banquet. We hope you are looking forward to participating in these events, as much as we are looking forward to providing fun and exciting experiences. Throughout the year, as we serve as student representatives for the School of Public Health, we ask for your input and ideas to open the communication line between the student body and the administration, faculty, and staff. We encourage you to attend meetings to socialize, voice questions and concerns. With your continued support and involvement with PHSA events, we will better serve the SPH student body. We hope that you are excited for the upcoming year as we are and participate in any or all events by becoming a department representative. Applications for department representatives will be distributed in the beginning of the year. We look forward to meeting and welcoming you to UCLA!
