Tommi Gaines, DrPH, is a postdoctoral research fellow of biostatistics in the UCLA School of Public Health. Her dissertation work involved the measurement of race and the methodological impact this has on the quality and hence interpretation of data on racial differences in the United States population. Her research explored different statistical methodologies for analyzing data from multiple race and single race individuals in context of meeting the national health goals specified in Healthy People 2010. Dr. Gaines prior work involved the collaboration on projects that investigated health outcomes in inner city populations. Dr. Gaines is currently involved with projects that address the translation of efficacious and effective interventions into everyday public health policies and programs. Her areas of expertise include analysis of health surveys, missing data analysis, and multivariate statistical analysis.
