Why UCLA?
The UCLA School of Public Health is one of the top schools in the country. Students receive state-of-the-art
public health training combined with practical, hands-on experience. The School's classrooms and laboratories
are under the same roof as UCLA's medical, dental, and nursing schools, and just
steps away from the University's world-renowned hospital, social and physical science facilities and the schools of engineering, law,
business, and public policy.
The School is also enriched by its location in Los Angeles, where a melting pot of cultures, industries, and urban
issues provide unparalleled opportunities for research, teaching and service. The School's Southern California
location also provide students and faculty with a unique opportunity to be involved with cutting edge health care
issues as many of the health system changes currently sweeping the country have origins in Southern California.
In addition to the School's impact on Los Angeles, greater California, and the U.S., the UCLA School of Public Health
also serves the global community. Faculty and students are actively engaged in research and consultation in some 70
countries throughout the world. The School is a lead institution in the World Health Organizations' Global Partnership
Initiatives for Health Development.
| While applying to various Schools of Public Health, I knew UCLA would be my top choice to excel in any Public Health field because it is guaranteed to do so by its multi-pronged approach to success. The faculty that UCLA has acquired over the years boasts expertise in every facet of research imaginable; bottom line, you are bound to find someone, somewhere who will facilitate and mentor your dreams into reality. The experiences at UCLA have not only met, but exceeded my expectations of what I wanted out of graduate school. The students are welcoming, faculty is more than willing to help, and the location can't be beat! As a student here and upcoming graduate I have found UCLA's School of Public Health lives up to its name. It is not only an investment in your education, but a lifelong commitment to excellence and opportunity that will be afforded to you wherever you go.

| In addition to the academic success and prestige that UCLA has to offer, UCLA also provided a wealth of resources for students who wish to further continue their education by advancing into PhD candidacy and at the same time provide a great network of opportunities for students who wish to find a job in a competitive industry after graduation. If I can sum up what UCLA is to me in one sentence, I would quote Albert Einstein. Albert Einstein once said, "Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction." To me, UCLA was the touch of genius that gave me the opportunity to propel forward in ways that I never thought I could and it was UCLA's close net faculty to student community that provided me the courage to succeed.
