Our Services

The mission of the Career Services Office is to facilitate the career development process for School of Public Health students through individual counseling sessions, workshops, employer presentations, career fairs and online job postings. We aim to collaborate with Alumni and the general Public Health community to strengthen partnerships between the students and representatives in Public Health agencies throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. We hope to be the agent that connects our students to their future.

  • Career Counseling, call or email Arlecia Powell-Halley for an appointment.
  • Workshops designed to develop skills in resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, and job searching are offered. Handouts on all topics are available in the career resources library.  For a schedule of workshop dates and times, click here.
  • Alumni speakers and employer information sessions concerning public health careers are also offered throughout the academic year. Those concerning internship opportunities are heavily offered during Winter Quarter. For a schedule, please click here.
  • Recruiters and employers from all areas of public health careers are invited to talk to students at our Annual Career Fair held during Spring Quarter.
  • Current listings of available jobs, internships and fellowships, including local, national and international, are maintained for the UCLA SPH community on our online JOB BANK.  To subscribe to the Career Services Office listserve for other job related announcements, please contact Arlecia at aphalley@ph.ucla.edu.
  • As part of their degree requirement, students are asked to find a field placement and work there for a period of time. The field studies requirement differs between the five departments in the UCLA School of Public Health. The Career Services Office does post internship openings that may be used for the field studies requirement but students ultimately should consult their Departmental Internship Coordinator for more information.
