The story of John Snow's medical and and epidemiological career involves several regions of England, starting with his childhood in York, support of an uncle in Bath, and early medical education in Newcastle upon-Tyne. Such places can be located on the map England and Wales which comes from a rare edition of Colton's Atlas of the World, published jointly in 1856 by firms in New York and London.  Colton's map of England and Wales is divided into 56 panels arranged in 8 rows of 7 panels. The map  can be viewed in two forms: high resolution (red box ) and medium resolution (black triangle ).  The green box () returns the viewer to this home page.  Click words at top of page for details on high and medium resolution.
